Our initial & current mission is to educate folks about their beef alternatives. We not only "meat" this by definition of the breed we raise & process, we have stepped up our own standards by choosing better genetics and working with influential Ranches in our industry to help us fill the growing demand. This last year proved to be difficult with losing some leased land, yet opening a door we never thought possible. We ourselves continually are educated through our connections with local health and food gurus and other farms who adhere and practice regenerative agriculture. We have expanded our product line through our new processor who helps us present more artisan-style cuts and we have processed some of our beloved younger stock as veal (short seasonal availability). Our pastures experienced improved growth and production of good grasses through our adaptation of regenerative practices and this year our soil is as rich and deep as it has ever been. Healthy soil makes healthy food that makes healthy cows that make healthy food!
What's next? This year our focus is on staying small.
You read that right. We love marketing in new areas, we love being part of growing new venues, we love "meating" folks from east to west to north to south. Love it. That will never change. Our focus this season is keeping it local, as in at home. Not only are we looking to build our e-commerce clientele, we are engaging in more deliberate rotational grazing by starting with our very small plots here on the hill. We experienced a marked improvement in our pastures the last two years and our hay paddock alone built several inches of top soil, in which some of the deepest green grasses lived (for only a short while as the cows loved it too!).
Small is sustainable. Keeping it simple at home will allow us the opportunity to pour ourselves into more deliberate connections with folks who NEED our beef. We have a very niche product and there are folk who DAILY struggle with food-related illnesses and auto-immune disorders. We are learning more and more that our client base RETURNS because we are one of very few sources that allows them to eat well and be well. This is a high honor and serious responsibility.
We are grateful beyond words for all of you who have promoted, supported, shared and reported about our beef and our Ranch. We are driven by CONNECTION. We want you to be CONNECTED deliberately to your food sources. This is crucial for health and well-being and not to be taken lightly.
